If you're planning a trip to Boston, Massachusetts, one destination that has to be on your list—whether you're a baseball fanatic or not—is Fenway Park. As part of Evan and I’s journey to see all the MLB stadiums, Fenway was a must-do, and it absolutely delivered. From its deep-rooted history to its electric game-day energy, Fenway is as iconic as it gets.

Kicking Off with a Guided Fenway Park Tour

Our day at Fenway started with a guided tour, which I can’t recommend enough. We met our group at the Red Sox Team Store, and from there, we got a complete walk-through of the park—literally and historically.

  • Low-Level Field Views: The tour began on the lower level, right up close to the field. We learned about the original metal seats—yes, the ones with the tight spacing and classic charm that give the ballpark its authentic old-school vibe.

  • The Green Monster: Next up, we made our way to the top of the Green Monster, one of the most recognizable features in all of baseball. Standing up there, you get an unmatched view of the entire field. Our guide talked about the yellow foul pole, known as "Pesky's Pole," and its role in many Red Sox moments.

  • Rooftop Garden: One of the most unexpected stops was the garden on the roof, which is maintained by a nonprofit organization. It supplies fresh produce to local communities and even helps out with concessions inside the park. I absolutely loved it!

  • Stadium History: As we walked around the top and behind home plate, our guide dove into the rich history of Fenway—from the Curse of the Bambino to recent championship wins. It's the oldest ballpark in the MLB, and walking through it feels like stepping back in time.

By the time we wrapped up the tour, we had seen the stadium from all angles and were ready to take it all in again—this time during a live game.

Fenway Street Vibes: Game Day Starts Early

We got to the Fenway area early, and honestly, the streets were already buzzing. It felt like a full-on street party—vendors selling sausages, team gear, cold drinks, and music blasting from bar patios.

The streets around the park—Lansdowne, Jersey Street, and Van Ness—were packed with fans hours before the game. It’s one of those places where the ballpark isn’t just in the city—it is the city. The energy hits you the moment you arrive.

If you’re heading to a game, get there early, grab some street food, and soak it all in. It’s a game-day experience like no other.

Where to Eat and Drink Around Fenway

Before and after the game, we made a point to explore the Fenway neighborhood, which is packed with great bars and restaurants. If you're headed there, here’s our hit list:

  • Cheeky Monkey Brewing Co. – Awesome vibe and craft beers. Great place to start pregame or wind down post-tour.

  • Game On! – This spot is built right into the stadium and has multiple floors with arcade games, TVs everywhere, and lots of energy.

  • Bill’s Bar & Lounge – This is where we ended the night. It was heavily crowded, but totally worth it. Think live music, dancing, a gritty fun crowd, and a perfect “celebrate the win” energy.

Game Time Energy

The game came down to the wire—and in perfect storybook fashion, it ended with a walk-off win for the Sox. The place absolutely erupted. It was one of those moments where strangers are high-fiving, drinks are flying, and everyone’s hugging like lifelong friends. That walk-off sealed it as one of the best sports moments we’ve seen on our MLB stadium tour so far.

And with that kind of ending, we needed a spot to keep the energy going—and Bill’s Bar & Lounge delivered.

Just steps from Fenway, Bill’s is the perfect after-game bar. The place was packed, the music was bumping, and the post-win high was still in full swing. It’s a gritty, loud, lively kind of bar—exactly what you want after a game like that. There was live music, a crowd that knew how to party, and a celebratory buzz in the air that kept the night going strong.

If you're heading to Fenway for a game, don’t miss Bill’s afterward. Whether you're toasting a win or shaking off a loss, it's the ideal spot to end the night.

Why Fenway Should Be on Your List

Whether you’re a Sox fan or just in town for a few days, Fenway Park is a Boston bucket list item. Take the tour, soak in the history, catch a game if you can, and spend time in the area. For us, it was another check off the MLB stadium list and a memory we won’t forget anytime soon.

And if you're following along on our journey to see all the MLB stadiums, drop your recs for the next stop—we’re always looking for hidden gems in each city.
